Bacterial Vaginosis is an infection of the vagina with a presence of a form of bacteria. While bacteria are known to be present in the vagina and not all of them are harmful however under proper and normal conditions all kinds of bacteria are balanced. There could be lactobacilli, which is good as well as anaerobes which can be bad.

The former ones are more of the controllers and help the vaginal region maintain the right kind of balance between the good and the bad ones as well as keeping a check on other micro organisms.
The occurrence of Bacterial Vaginosis is more due to the increasing and unwanted growth of the anaerobes that overpower the lactobacilli and disrupt the balance that is very critical for a healthy vagina.
The infection is also referred to with various names like non-specific Vaginitis, hemophilus Vaginitis, and Gardnerella Vaginitis but the fact remains that by any name it is a frustrating and embarrassing infection and you only realize it once you have had to face the agony and embarrassment of the infection. It is one of the most common infections that occurs in women and is highly feared and dreaded.
It is a condition which every female would wish to avoid as it is not only demanding physically but also creates a mental block that restricts you from doing certain things which you could otherwise do with a fair amount of ease.
