Very Worried and upset from all I read online.Bacterial Vaginosis?

I was just diagnosed with BV I thought I had a UTI but it turned out it was BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) Anyways, my doctor gave me metrogel to use for 5 days. I am 13 weeks pregnant and very frightend. I am scared that I have had this infection through my whole pregnancy and even before I was pregnant, I think I did…and was being treated for the wrong thing. So I’m very scared…I heard this can cause misscarige or early birth and I really love this baby and want him or her to be healthy. I am taking the medication and my husband will be gettting treated for it also. And we are stopping sex for this pregnancy.

I cry alot I’m so scared…I love this baby…

Any one else have BV while pregnant? How long? How many weeks were you and how did your pregnancy go?

i found out i had it my last pregnancy when i was 32 weeks. I had it for afew weeks. it put me into premature labor and they stopped it. everything ended up being fine after I took the medication. I think you are safe since you are taking the medication.

They are treating your husband for it? I didn’t know they treat men for it seeing as to how they show no symptoms of having it. All they have to do is not have sex for 7 days and it goes away.
I had BV in my first trimester. I had to take a treatment for it. Yes BV can cause a miscarriage so it is important to treat. But once it was gone it was gone. Just make sure not to have sex while you are on the treatment. Even with condoms.
Also I just found out that using loofas can cause BV. So try sticking to a bar of soap during your pregnancy. Or switch loofas every 10 days.

It is really nothing to be concerned about and it very common during pregnancy. I had BV while I was pregnant and kind of like you I think I had it prior to getting pregnant also. They do not treat BV until second trimester so even if it had been discovered earlier it wouldn’t have been treated before then. As long as it is treated you will be fine. Your husband doesn’t not need to be treated and it is not sexually transmitted. I actually get BV every month either right before or right after my period. It is just that the bacteria that is always in your vagina overgrows similar to a yeast infection but just bacteria instead of fungal.

1. its not a sexually transmitted disease. so i think your husband will be fine.
2. It can be taken away, so i dont think you will have this forever. and if your baby has it you’ll be fine.
3. one symptom is being pain filled. so if there is pain near the stomach area, constantly, see a doctor, to make sure the baby is fine.
4. Pregnent people are at great risk of getting this disease [ you know this]
5. it wont effect the baby, because it is typically seen in people 15-24 years old. so you should be fine.
6. the only thing about the pregnency is pain filled and maybe some discharge here and there.

good luck.
